Springboard is a collaborative project between The Roche Court Educational Trust and Arts University Bournemouth.

Springboard is an annual project that brings together Sculpture and Dance, in collaboration with BA (Hons) Dance students at Arts University Bournemouth. Every year since 2018 first year undergraduates have created original choreographic material in response to selected artworks at Roche Court Sculpture Park, and worked with regional schools and groups to pass on their skills, before a public performance at Pavilion Dance South West.

Despite the challenges of COVID this project still went ahead in 2020 & 2021, with digital iterations and smaller audiences by necessity, but all who participated have been moved by the power of live dance.  In 2021, the Roche Court Education team took the Sculpture Park to the Arts University Bournemouth dance studios using short films, discussions  and embodiment activities to bring the work of Bill Woodrow, Nicholas Pope & Allen Jones to life. In 2022, we look forward to returning to the face-to-face experience at the Sculpture Park & hopefully large live audiences again.

The project is part of a wider exploration at Roche Court Education Trust of the connections between  dance and sculpture, which also incorporates professional dance residencies, and dance performances with the sculpture at Roche Court an integral part.
