Lisi Ashbridge, Freelance Art Educator

Lisi is a lettering artist and designer specializing in letter carving in stone and wood. She has run her own workshop for the last 13 years.

Her professional life started off with a degree and PhD in Neuroscience and she did extensive post-doctoral research at Oxford University trying to understand how the brain recognises visual shapes. This interest is still carried on in her work and inspired by themes as diverse as poetry, history, philosophy, science, and the landscape, her work makes a dramatic focal point, or a deeply intimate tribute or message.

With her broad background in education, she enjoys teaching the practical side of letter carving as much as working with special needs children in schools or inspiring adults to look at art in a different, approachable, and unapprehensive way.
