Art in all its forms is so powerful. There is now much evidence to demonstrate how both looking at art and creating art helps keep our brains and bodies healthy.
It is therefore fundamental that everyone, whatever their age or ability, has equal access to art and all it can offer us. The Multi Sensory Art Project aims to remove as many barriers as possible. The project engages groups with learning difficulties and disabilities, alongside mainstream schools and the wider community.
Our link between Artists, Teachers, Artist-Educators and Gallery is unique. The team are constantly exploring new ideas, ways of working, interpreting and making art accessible.
Every year since 2013, artists exhibiting at The New Art Centre have inspired large-scale installations at Special Schools across Wiltshire. Children from the age of two, to adults in their eighties have enjoyed these environments, which allow for simply ‘being’ and experiencing, and at the same time encourage active participation.

In 2020, whilst we are unable to engage with children and participants face to face, we are seizing the opportunity to share a host of sensory offerings digitally with families and teachers, online!
